#AntiNewYearsResolutions

By: Janine Serio

WOW, it is hard to believe today is January 1st…FINALLY, right? First, and foremost, may your 2017 be filled with love, abundance, strength, and gratitude.

So, I have to ask, are you familiar with #AntiNewYearsResolutions?  WAIT, I must be getting this totally confused! This is the EXACT opposite from what January 1st is “supposed” to be, right?

I mean, tis’ the season for becoming super restrictive with your eating, going “balls to the wall” with your workouts, setting some unrealistic goals in HOPES that, maybe, this year it will work, and so on, and so on.

Think about THIS –> what if I told you that January is going to be ALL about the ANTI-RESOLUTION. Yes, you read correctly and, yes, it is EXACTLY as it sounds.

This is YOUR (well, OUR) year to start 2017 (and forever really) by not feeling as though we are walking a lifestyle tightrope.

I want you, and me included, to focus on eating for enjoyment, satisfaction, and, come on, WHAT WE LIKE! Okay, so maybe we did not eat the “cleanest” over these past few weeks, or possibly indulged in one too many sweets. Acknowledge, own it, and move on! Next!

Just as I want you to like what you eat, I, also, want you to like how you move too. I want our workouts to be short, sweet (intense baby), and to the point, never feeling like a chore. Yes, we may not have gotten in as many sweat sessions as we wanted during the Holiday’s. Hey, it happens and, guess what, those weights have not turned their back on us. It can take as little as 10 minutes to get back on the bandwagon, and a handful of workouts each week, to feel back in our power, and on track, towards obtaining our physique goals!

See, EASY (and, yes, “EASY is earned”)! Love this quote from Jade Teta!

Speaking of GOALS, while I think it is extremely important to know what you want, what you aspire to achieve, and where you want to go, it can, also, feel a bit debilitating at times too. I can speak on this from years of experience – no joke.

While I am all about setting goals, I also find myself being a little overly ambitious. With being the textbook definition of “Type A,” this has gotten me into trouble one too many times. Sure, I have goals, aspirations, and have set intentions for “where I want to go,” but I am choosing this year to stop letting these goals control and define ME and my self-worth.

When I get wrapped up in the struggle of something not happening the way I wanted, or the way I had planned, this only pulls me further away from “where I want to go.” Life happens, and our journey’s change. When we start to let go of the urgency of everything we have planned for needing to happen right away, or else we have “failed,” the closer we may, actually, come towards reaching these said “goals.”

This year, my wish for all of us is to put our best foot forward every single day…give nothing less than 110% (however it may look)! I want us to look at everyday as an experience, and every outcome as a life lesson.

These are the lessons that are going to make us better version of my current selves, and, in turn, help us reach the ultimate goal(s) we strive for on a daily basis.

Here’s to a 2017 filled with strength, clarity, and working on YOU!

xoxo
